COMMUNITY NEWS

  • The Wyoming Office of Outdoor Recreation will convene collaboratives in February—gathering local community members, recreation stakeholders and conservation groups to discuss outdoor projects statewide.  Wyoming Tribune Eagle
  • Registration is open now for the Adult Co-Rec Dodgeball League and Cornhole League, with sign-ups accepted through Feb. 26 and late registration available until March 12 (late fees apply) for leagues starting April 7 at the Youth Activity and Community Center.  Cap City News

  • A facility in Laramie County is under discussion to become the largest data center in the nation (as reported by Inside Climate News). Officials are still reviewing project details and timelines, which could boost local tech infrastructure if approved.  Wyoming Tribune Eagle

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The BLM issued a notice proposing to remove bison from seven Montana grazing allotments totaling about 63,000 acres to enforce the Taylor Grazing Act, which may reclassify the animals as wildlife & impact bison ranching. Some Wyoming ranchers worry that if similar rules apply to private herds, bison ranching could face new challenges.  Cowboy State Daily
  • Multiple organizations and volunteers will conduct Laramie County’s annual Point in Time Count across Cheyenne starting at sundown Jan. 28 through sunup Jan. 29 (the event helps assess homeless population needs).  Wyoming Tribune Eagle
  • The Laramie County Board of Commissioners approved Tuesday a permit for The Life subdivision on 1760 I-25 Service Road, dividing 57.5 vacant acres into four residential lots averaging 11.51 acres each — county officials updated road access language for the site.  Cap City News
  • State lawmakers may cut $800,000 a year from Wyoming Public Media if budget votes follow through next month. The funding loss may jeopardize services across 97,000 square miles, including jobs for eight staff (relying on donor support) and local programming.  Cowboy State Daily
  • State lawmakers and Gov. Mark Gordon (recommending $15M) are trying to attract the world’s largest rodeo organization from Colorado Springs to Cheyenne. Officials say the move is expected to boost local economic prospects as the plan is under review.  Wyoming Tribune Eagle
  • Tuesday, county commissioners allowed 307 Horse Racing Inc. to move 45 gaming machines to its 3310 Ridge Road facility after the Outlaw Saloon closed (machine count will drop by eight) while final Wyoming Gaming Commission approval is pending.  Cap City News
