  • Trent Rysell, a senior at East High, was named Laramie County School District 1’s Student of the Week for the week of Feb. 2. He balances school, sports and work — he plans to attend South Dakota School of Mines for engineering and an accelerated master’s program after graduation.  Cap City News

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Meteorologist Don Day Jr. and Mayor Patrick Collins warn Cheyenne has recorded only 7.5 inches of snow with Crow Creek drainage at 5 percent of normal, and they hope more snow will fall in the coming weeks to secure water access.  KGAB
  • The Wyoming Game and Fish Department released a documentary on Jan. 19 about bighorn sheep challenges — focusing on disease risk and herd balance. The film details proactive management strategies for the Jackson and Ferris-Seminoe herds.  KING FM

  • The Wyoming Stock Growers Land Trust announced five new board members (Gay Lynn Byrd, Marilyn Kite, Bret Leas, DJ Healy and Robert Heykoop) to bolster conservation efforts and support ranching families statewide.
