BUSINESS NEWS

  • Wy Fresh Farmstand's owners worry that city annexation plans may restrict their farming practices and put their business at risk. A proposal for annexation will have its first reading tonight at 6 p.m. in City Council Chambers at the Municipal Building (2101 O'Neil).  KGAB

CULTURE NEWS

  • Westward launches a new exhibition series called Interruption Studies that explores Cheyenne's evolving history through experimental art reinterpretations. Its first installment, Cheyenne, Unfixed, opens Feb. 13 with a reception from 5 to 7 p.m. at Westward.  Cap City News

ECONOMY NEWS

  • A GasBuddy.com survey shows Wyoming gas prices rose 6.2 cents in one week, reaching $2.57 on Monday. Local drivers may notice the change at the pump.  Wyoming Tribune Eagle
  • Gas prices in Laramie County fell by 1 cent to $2.46 per gallon today, while Wyoming’s state average rose to $2.64 and the national rate increased to $2.84. The lowest fuel prices were noted at Moody’s Rock Stop (901 W. Pershing Blvd.) and Walmart (580 Livingston Ave.) according to AAA.  Cap City News

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Seventh grader Itzel Soto Dominguez at Johnson Junior High was named LCSD1 Student of the Week for Feb. 9 for her dedication and willingness to help peers. She serves on Student Council and sets a positive example in the classroom.  Cap City News
  • On Monday night, LCSD1 trustees voted on new Deming Elementary boundaries; students north of Pershing Boulevard were reassigned to Davis Elementary and those south to Pioneer Park. The meeting (held at Storey Gym Boardroom and on Zoom) also reviewed a roof replacement contract and recognized students and staff.  Cap City News

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Wyoming has enjoyed a warm winter but snow and cooler temps are coming today and later this week, with gusty winds reported in Wheatland, Glendo, Douglas and other areas. Officials warn of extreme blowover risks (according to the National Weather Service).  KING FM

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Lawmakers voted Thursday to exempt two University of Wyoming programs and one facility from a proposed $40 million block grant cut, a move critics say could strain remaining funding. The decision follows state efforts to adjust university allocations.  Wyoming Tribune Eagle

REAL ESTATE NEWS

  • A new Construction Coverage analysis shows Wyoming's median rent is $1,236, making it the seventh lowest in the nation; the report comes as overall inflation cools but rent continues to drive household costs.  Wyoming Tribune Eagle

  • Benny Boyd, former Wyoming cornerbacks coach, has accepted a coaching position with TCU and will join Sonny Dykes' staff in Fort Worth this fall. He spent six seasons in Laramie as co-special teams coordinator (helping his defense rank 14th nationally in passing yards allowed).  KGAB
