- ➤ Cheyenne Symphony Orchestra concludes its season with a world premiere and a performance by Grammy winner Michelle Cann on April 11 at the Civic Center. - ➤ Laramie County gas prices increased by only 1 cent today to $3.72 per gallon + Moody’s Rock Stop at 901 W. Pershing Blvd. offers the lowest fuel at $3.50 amid a national average above $4 per gallon +. Cap City News
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ LCSD1 officials said a new state law will force the school district to change its financial plan by lowering reserve limits and shifting nearly $4.2 million into an internal service fund for a self funded employee health plan. The board will vote on the budget changes in the coming months. Cap City News
- ➤ Today, the Laramie County School District 1 Board of Trustees in Cheyenne will meet (5 p.m. work session and 6 p.m. regular meeting) to vote on a $1.1 million contract for a transportation fuel island replacement plus additional upgrades for parking and security as part of a $2.5 million plan. - ➤ Central High senior Alexandria Axie Mitchell-Elsasser was named LCSD1 Student of the Week for the week of April 6 after earning a 4.0 GPA, AP Scholar recognition, and over 1,000 volunteer hours (at the library and Meals on Wheels) and will study mathematics and psychology at the University of Wyoming. - ➤ On Monday, the Public Services Committee approved new pedestrian safety rules that lower the crosswalk threshold from 100 to 20 and introduced durable thermoplastic markings. It also backed downtown district expansion, wastewater discharge updates + residential zoning changes, with measures set for full City Council approval. Cap City News
- ➤ Cheyenne's Sanitation Division resumes its yard waste collection program today until mid-November; residents who opted in must place their bins out by 6 a.m. with approved materials like lawn trimmings, weeds, leaves, and pine needles and may drop off prohibited items at the Compost Facility (3714 Windmill Road).
