  • University of Wyoming student-athletes will swap uniforms for aprons at the Serving Up Wishes fundraiser on April 18 at Little America in Cheyenne (organized by Make-A-Wish Wyoming) to grant life-changing wishes to children through interactive games and dinner.  Cap City News
  • The City reminds residents and visitors on the nearly 50-mile Greater Cheyenne Greenway to obey a 15 mph speed limit, yield to pedestrians, and use safety lights at night + leash dogs and avoid blocking the trail.   • Cheyenne East senior Kaitlyn Marcum hosted the city’s first Best Buddies Friendship Walk in Lions Park on Saturday (she hopes to expand the event in the future).  Wyoming Tribune Eagle

  • The Cheyenne Little Theatre Players will announce their 97th season and reopen the Historic Atlas Theatre Saturday, Apr. 18. Doors open at 6 p.m. for a free event featuring a short performance, a season reveal at 7 p.m., hors d’oeuvres, and a cash bar.  Cap City News
  • Cheyenne gallery owner Harvey Deselms said his beloved pet Dot (16-year-old) was humanely put down Friday due to declining health. The Jack Russell terrier had served as a warm art ambassador at his gallery, comforting many visitors.  Cowboy State Daily

  • Laramie County fuel prices dropped 12 cents to $3.60 per gallon today amid a global oil price surge spurred by escalating geopolitical tensions + Sam's Club and Moody's Rock Stop report lower rates than state and national averages, and analysts say prices may rise later this week.  Cap City News

  • Sophia Carabajal, an 11th-grade student at South High, was named LCSD1 Student of the Week for the week of April 13 for her strong leadership in school and community activities such as mentoring and club participation.  Cap City News

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Wyoming water officials announced that an extra release from Flaming Gorge Reservoir will begin on or before May 1, as projections show Lake Powell may soon stop producing hydroelectric power at Glen Canyon Dam. Officials warn that even with additional water, the worsening crisis could force mandatory reductions.  Cap City News

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • At Monday’s public hearing, Cheyenne residents opposed a proposed annexation to create a business park west of Roundtop Road, citing traffic, noise, and disruption of local wildlife. City officials assured no final decision was made and will review the proposal further while approving separate residential zoning changes south Cheyenne.  Cap City News
