  • Cheyenne’s Recreation Division is offering a beginner mountain biking class for youth ages 10–14 that meets every Wednesday in May from 5:30–7:30 p.m., with registration closing this week and 12 spots available at $65 per participant – riders must bring a mountain bike in good working order and wear a helmet.  Cap City News
  • Cheyenne and Cheyenne Urban Forestry are celebrating Arbor Day today at Sun Valley Park at 5500 E. 12th St. with an official proclamation, a ceremony marking 43 years as a Tree City USA — and awards for Partner, Volunteer and Sponsor of the Year, along with tree-planting activities for third graders.  Cap City News

CRIME NEWS

  • A 29-year-old Cheyenne woman was stopped on April 11 at Thomes Avenue and West 5th Street where officers observed signs of meth use and that her 4-year-old daughter was unrestrained; she faces charges for DUI with controlled substance and child endangerment with a $5,000 bond while her preliminary hearing is set for today at 1:30 p.m.  KGAB

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Gov. Mark Gordon visited more than 400 Wyoming Army National Guard soldiers deployed in the Middle East, sharing meals, receiving briefings, and recognizing their service; he met King Abdullah II and embassy officials—discussing opportunities for Wyoming industries—before departing on a trade mission to Taiwan and Japan.  Cap City News
  • Crews with Knife River and the Wyoming Department of Transportation will begin work on Warren Avenue on April 28 between Pershing and 24th, doing milling, paving, concrete work, and repairs that will cause lane closures and parking restrictions near local businesses. Sidewalk access will remain open while the work is expected to finish in the fall— though the schedule may change due to weather or material availability.  Cap City News
