  • Cheyenne observed Arbor Day on Thursday, Apr. 23 at Windmill Cactus Park, marking 44 years as a Tree City USA and 29 years with the Arbor Day Foundation’s Growth Award. Students planted trees and local leaders received awards + community partners were honored for urban forestry efforts.  City of Cheyenne
  • AARP Wyoming has launched a drive-thru Caregiver Pit Stop in Cheyenne to give family caregivers a quick chance to pick up essential support—designed to keep their busy days moving. The program is available today for residents in need.  Wyoming Tribune Eagle

CULTURE NEWS

  • Wyoming author Craig Johnson, known for his Longmire series, discussed his inspiration and new characters for his upcoming book + set to be released in May. He shared his insights in a recent interview.  Wyoming Tribune Eagle
  • The Wyoming Arts Council announced a spring tour (presented by the Piatigorsky Foundation) featuring mezzo-soprano Katherine Calcamuggio Donner and pianist Gabriel Evens with performances set to travel statewide. EDUCATION NEWS

  • Laramie County School District 1 students earned statewide top honors at the 70th annual Wolsborn-Drazovich State Math Competition held at nine locations in Wyoming.  Wyoming Tribune Eagle

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Wyoming GOP delegates voted 11-4 in a board room at the state fairgrounds to reject a proposal that would have declared the U.S. a Christian nation and Wyoming a Christian state amid a blizzard outside. The decision leaves the current 23-plank platform unchanged.  Cowboy State Daily
  • The Summit Rest Area on I-80 near mile marker 323 between Laramie and Cheyenne is closed temporarily for repair work+maintenance. Travelers should use other stops until it reopens.  Wyoming Tribune Eagle

  • Ethan Bird, the sports director for Wyoming News Now, appeared on the SportsZone Thursday afternoon (April 24) to discuss local high school sports as teams wrapped up the spring season.  KFBC
