BUSINESS NEWS

  • Visit Cheyenne announced on Monday that Marie Margot is its new director of marketing and communications to boost local tourism and support community events. Margot, coming from Laramie County Community College (where she managed key marketing campaigns), will lead efforts to promote Cheyenne’s unique story.  Cap City News

CULTURE NEWS

  • Cheyenne’s Lincoln Theater will host live music and comedy shows this summer. The venue on Central Avenue offers easy street parking and nearby dining options so visitors can plan a full evening out while following bag policies.  106.3 Cowboy Country

ECONOMY NEWS

  • Cheyenne leaders revealed plans to transform the 416-acre Hitching Post into a Western district anchored by the PRCA headquarters and new Hall of Fame—this project would add hotels, a convention center and an equestrian venue with planning meetings set to start soon and work continuing into 2029.  Cowboy State Daily
  • Today, gas prices in Laramie County dropped 5 cents to $3.67 per gallon while the national average climbed above $4 and Sam’s Club in Cheyenne reported a low of $3.53, although rising oil prices may push rates higher soon.  Cap City News
  • State economists flagged a labor market slowdown as Wyoming’s nonfarm payrolls fell by 900 and unemployment rose to 3.6% + strong tourism and mining tax collections helped buffer the downturn. In Cheyenne, the Economic Health Index climbed to 108.7, but nonfarm jobs dropped by 300 with unemployment creeping to 4.5%.  Cap City News

  • The sheriff’s office will unveil a new marker at Lakeview Cemetery and dedicate a badge modeled after Sheriff Roach’s (1916) design to honor him and five fallen deputies. It is set for May 1 at 4 p.m. and is a project with the Wyoming Law Enforcement Memorial Board.  Cap City News
