  • Yesterday, Cheyenne hosted a Voyage of Valor event that honored 16 Vietnam veterans with a 30-minute ceremony at 7 p.m., a live theater adaptation of Murder on the Orient Express at 7:30 p.m., and live music at the Outlaw Saloon at 9 p.m. A free five-day roadshow for evaluating and buying collectibles operated from May 6 until today at 10 a.m. — offering certified checks for sellers.  Cap City News

CRIME NEWS

  • On May 5 at 12:40 p.m., a Cheyenne man was arrested after a police chase and hit-and-run crash on Interstate 80 near Buford—he now faces nine charges including a felony.  KGAB
  • A Wyoming Highway Patrol trooper stopped 53-year-old Laurie Ellen Cascio and 55-year-old Everett Earl Hartshorn in south Cheyenne on Wednesday night for a cracked windshield and a missed turn signal—when a K-9 search uncovered 2 ounces of methamphetamine and Cascio then retrieved an additional ounce along with a loaded syringe—leading to their arrest on felony drug possession charges; they had appeared in Circuit Court on May 9.  KGAB

  • Joshua Padilla, a senior at East High School, was named LCSD1 Student of the Week for the week of May 12 and will be recognized for balancing his studies and work + his dedication to his education. He is noted for maintaining a high GPA, using his bilingual skills, and planning to become a journeyman electrician + he chose Peter Berg as his favorite teacher for making class enjoyable.  Cap City News

  • Rep. Harriet Hageman voted Tuesday to let Utah and Nevada counties sell about 500,000 acres of federal land as part of a bill that will generate $18.5 million from energy and mineral leases—critics say the deal was made without proper public review.  Cowboy State Daily
  • Cheyenne city officials discussed proposals for the City Clerk and Fire Rescue budgets for fiscal year 2026 — the City Clerk division’s plan is $881,908 with added funds for software updates and training while the Fire Rescue proposal is $14.76 million with increases for wages, benefits and firefighter health programs. The proposals were part of a series of workshops, and further budget talks on the City Attorney and Engineering Department will take place today at noon in the Municipal Building.  Cap City News
