COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Families can prepare for summer safety at the 27th annual Safe Kids Day on Saturday, May 23 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Laramie County Public Library, where more than 20 exhibitors will offer helmet giveaways, car seat inspections, a Bike Rodeo, and a Slow Roll at noon.  Cap City News

  • Laramie County Library will host its second annual Library Card Art Contest as submissions open May 18 and close June 23. Participants of all ages can submit original artwork and vote on designs that will appear on library cards beginning Sept. 1 (coinciding with Library Card Sign-up Month).  Cap City News

ECONOMY NEWS

  • The Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association finalized a development deal in late April to relocate its operations to Cheyenne, which is expected to boost the local economy. EDUCATION NEWS

  • Thayne Nett, a senior at East High School — recognized for his kindness and academic excellence — was named Laramie County School District 1's Student of the Week for the week of May 11. He will attend the University of Wyoming to major in architectural engineering.  Cap City News
  • On May 4, the LCSD1 board selected Barbara Leiseth as the new principal of Hobbs Elementary to replace Rhonda Lobatos. Leiseth, who led Jessup Elementary for over a decade (and served on district committees), will begin her role as Lobatos steps down at the end of the school year.  Cap City News

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • In 2025, a disease outbreak that was especially deadly to wolf pups reduced wolf counts in Wyoming and Yellowstone National Park to their lowest levels since reintroduction. Biologists noted the decline and are studying trends to guide future protection measures.  Wyoming Tribune Eagle
