COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Cheyenne's only day center for those experiencing homelessness, formerly the Welcome Mat, celebrated a rebrand and building improvements (with local support) Thursday.  Wyoming Tribune Eagle
  • The Cheyenne Police Department will host the 17th annual Cheyenne Neighborhood Night on July 9 at the Block Captain meeting, bringing neighbors, businesses and police together to build stronger ties.  Wyoming Tribune Eagle
  • The Cheyenne PD will host a Block Captain Planning Meeting on Thursday, May 28 at 5:30 p.m. at the Public Safety Center at 415 West 18th Street to prepare for the 17th annual Neighborhood Night. ECONOMY NEWS

  • Uranium Energy Corp. bought uranium mining assets from a Russian company in 2021, returning them to American control. The company is studying several locations for a new conversion facility to expand Wyoming’s nuclear fuel supply chain + boost local economic value.  Cowboy State Daily
  • Rocky Mountain Power requested a $71M rate increase (pending regulatory approval) that could raise monthly electric bills for about 150,000 Wyoming customers.  Wyoming Tribune Eagle

EDUCATION NEWS

  • On Thursday, the Wyoming Supreme Court cleared a block on public funding for private education, letting the state fund a universal school voucher program — reversing a district judge's earlier ruling.   • New nationwide assessment shows Wyoming students dropped nearly 0.42 grade levels in math and 0.41 in reading since 2019, ranking 36th in math and 20th in reading recovery.
