CRIME NEWS

  • An arson fire destroyed the home and five vehicles of a Cheyenne family of 12 on May 11, leaving them with urgent housing needs as they stay in a church-paid hotel until Friday — Bocephus Osmon now faces third-degree arson charges.  Cowboy State Daily

CULTURE NEWS

  • Arts Cheyenne is accepting applications from local artists and cultural institutions for the inaugural Cheyenne Studio Tour. The fall event runs Sept. 19 (10 a.m.-5 p.m.) and Sept. 20 (noon-4 p.m.) in Cheyenne.  Wyoming Tribune Eagle

  • On Tuesday, Wyoming groups including WYBHA and WCA expressed concern that some school districts are cutting counselor positions using recalibration changes despite SF0081 allocating $126 million+ for school counseling, with local districts urged to follow the law as written to support student mental health.  Cap City News

  • Laramie County Planning Commission voted Thursday to recommend a permit for the Iron Guard Workforce Housing project near South Greeley Highway (1.5 miles west).   • Cheyenne VA Medical Center officials announced Tuesday that the facility and its staff received a five-star rating from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services’ annual Overall Hospital report, marking a top performance rating for the center.  Wyoming Tribune Eagle

  • Central softball team will open the state tournament on Thursday at 2 pm at CJL Fields, facing Kelly Walsh. Head coach Carrie Barker detailed the matchup on SportsZone Monday.  KFBC
