- ➤ The City of Cheyenne Recreation Division opened registration for its 13th Youth Outdoor Adventure Program, where youth aged 10 to 15 can join weekly outdoor activities like hiking, rock climbing, archery, and kayaking from June through August—registration closes Aug. 12 and each activity’s signup ends the Tuesday before it takes place. - ➤ A 25-year-old Cheyenne woman, Precious Jhenna Moyte, was arrested on May 16 at 6:49 p.m. for reportedly trying to break into a neighbor’s home to fight — her bond was set at $1,500 at 10% and her preliminary hearing is scheduled for May 29 at 3 p.m.—. KGAB

- ➤ On Sunday, a massive funnel cloud touched down near Bennett in Colorado and damaged more than 20 homes while funnel clouds from the same storm were reported in Cheyenne (raising concerns for an active tornado season). Cowboy State Daily meteorologist Don Day said tornado activity will likely increase from mid-May through September, especially in eastern Wyoming, as warm, moist air fuels strong storms. - ➤ The Downtown Development Authority will hold its second work session on May 28 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Western Vista Conference Room (1920 Thomes Ave.) to develop an implementation strategy for projects in the 2024 Cheyenne DDA Plan of Development, and the session will be available in-person and online without public comment. - ➤ The Laramie County Board of Commissioners approved an addendum with Range Renovations Consulting Inc. to repair the baffles and bullet traps at the Shooting Sports Complex at 13802 Bullseye Blvd in Cheyenne—work that will take five to seven days during which the range will be closed and the county will pay $68,970 when completed. - ➤ Laramie County commissioners reviewed on Tuesday a study that suggests one-time transportation impact fees for developers in unincorporated areas to fund future road improvements. The report by TischlerBise Inc. for the Cheyenne Metropolitan Planning Organization details fees based on vehicle trips and estimates $7.7 million in revenue to cover nearly all expected expansion costs over the next 10 years — matching the projected needs for an extra 7.31 miles of road.
