  • Whiskey enthusiasts are invited to attend the fifth annual Capital City Whiskey Tasting on Friday, June 21 at 6 p.m. at the Blue FCU Community Event Center to benefit Magic City Enterprises—an organization that helps provide housing, job support and life skills programs for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.  Cap City News

  • Big Boy No. 4014 will meet the newly unveiled Abraham Lincoln commemorative locomotive No. 1616 during two stops in Greeley this summer—one from 11:30 a.m. to noon on July 17 and another from 8:30 to 8:50 a.m. on July 19. The locomotive departs Cheyenne at 10 a.m. on July 17 and returns at 10:30 a.m. on July 19, with local crowds expected to watch its movements and exclusive cab rides on auction planned between Cheyenne and Denver.  Cowboy State Daily

ECONOMY NEWS

  • Drivers in Laramie County saw their average gas price drop 9 cents last week to $2.94—while the national price increased 1 cent to $3.13—GasBuddy shows local fuel remains among the lowest in the state.  Cap City News
  • Wyoming rare earth mining companies are speeding up projects as national demand for minerals grows. They are aiming to cut processing delays—using assets like Halleck Creek and Bear Lodge to boost domestic supply and secure future jobs.  Cowboy State Daily

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Cheyenne officials created a new Active Transportation Advisory Committee to address community feedback on the city's on-street bicycle and pedestrian network (the panel will review resident suggestions) and will work to improve active travel options (further details are forthcoming).  Wyoming Tribune Eagle
  • WYDOT will spend $20 million this summer to upgrade its Driver Services and Revenue Information Service systems with new MAX software, marking the first major overhaul in 40 years. Temporary office closures and staff training are planned — the upgrade will offer online self-service features and reduce wait times — with closure dates to be announced next month.  Cowboy State Daily
  • Governor Gordon appointed Ryan Schelhaas as Interim Attorney General after Bridget Hill left to join the Wyoming Supreme Court. Schelhaas has worked in the Attorney General’s office since 2003 and served as a civil litigator — he earned his degrees from the University of Wyoming — and will now lead the office in advising state officials and enforcing state law.  Cap City News
