CRIME NEWS

  • Laramie County Sheriff has arrested two men — 48-year-old Mathew Christie and 43-year-old Ignacio Quintanilla Jr. — in connection with burglaries reported on April 22 and April 28; investigators used camera footage from a Toyota 4Runner and public tips to secure search warrants on May 13 and May 25 that led to the discovery of stolen items.  KGAB
  • Cheyenne man Sebastian A. K. Belden, a 21-year-old National Guard member, is charged with aggravated assault and battery after repeatedly pointing his concealed 9 mm at a 16-year-old teen who was shot in the head on May 11 near East 1st Street and South Washington; he later apologized in a letter to the teen’s family and appeared in Casper Circuit Court on May 27 with bond set at +$50,000+.  Cowboy State Daily

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The Wyoming Department of Transportation said the new MAX online system will let people renew licenses, order records, and schedule tests without waiting in line at the Driver Services office. The system will replace the old RIS from 1986 and is set to go live this summer—aiming to make the process faster for Wyoming drivers.  KING FM
  • Cheyenne City Council approved nearly a dozen measures— including the Cheyenne Regional Airport Board’s $23.6 million budget referred to the Finance Committee and a public safety agreement allowing the mayor to sign for Frontier Days events— while additional items were set aside for further review.  Cap City News
  • During Tuesday’s public hearing, Cheyenne residents raised concerns over a plan to annex 95 county parcels in northeast Cheyenne, fearing higher property taxes and changes to local services. City officials argued that the move would extend services and lower water rates — the ordinance will be reviewed further by a Public Services Committee.  Cap City News
  • On Tuesday, the Cheyenne City Council approved final updates to home-based business rules that limit vehicle storage and auto detailing while allowing in-home services like salons. The council also began reviewing park fee payment changes and sign allowances, sending these proposals to the Public Services Committee—steps designed to balance business operations with community needs.  Cap City News
  • Today, WYDOT began a pavement patching project on WYO 212/College Drive in Cheyenne from mile marker 2.72 to 3.67, upgrading ADA access and milling and paving roads with a 12-foot width restriction. Crews will move to work on US Highway 30 and US Highway 287 next, with flagger and pilot car operations + traffic shifts in effect, and the work will finish by the end of October.  Cap City News
