- ➤ Laramie County deputies arrested 48-year-old Michael Evans on Friday, May 30 after an AirTag led them to a home on Prosser Road where he stole a $1,100 bicycle and was found with methamphetamine and magic mushrooms, and he now faces felony theft and drug possession charges. KGAB
- ➤ Cheyenne police said two masked suspects used a baseball bat to break the door of Rocky Vapor at 453 Vandehei Ave on May 27 at 3:45 a.m.—stealing items and breaking display cases—and they urge anyone who recognizes the suspects to contact Detective Marino. KGAB
- ➤ Cheyenne police are asking for help in identifying two people caught on camera burglarizing Rocky Vapor at 453 Vandehei Ave in northwest Cheyenne on Tuesday, May 27—security footage shows they broke the door with a bat and stole many items. KING FM
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ At a Monday board meeting, Laramie County School District 1 trustees approved a copier lease contract spanning four years valued at up to $2.2 million and a tech deal for Apple devices worth up to $300,000 using school and department budgets. The board also signed school bus use agreements with community partners and renewed contracts for software and special education services for the rest of this school year — moves that upgrade essential services. - ➤ The Laramie County School District 1 Board approved a study recommending an expansion of East High School to add 413 seats (the school is at 112.42% capacity and faces issues with cafeteria and parking), which will cost about $442 million. The state Construction Department will seek $3.5 million design funding in the 2026 session and if approved, construction will start soon with completion expected three to five years later.
