The Cheyenne Community Recreation and Events Department will host the annual Superday festival on June 28 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at South Lions Park—offering pickleball and volleyball tournaments, family games and a kids zone while teams must register before playing.

Wyoming lawmakers began a review of school funding after a court ruled that schools did not get enough money—experts say the study will check teacher pay, class sizes, and other needs over many meetings.

Gilbert 'Muggsy' Schoel—known as the Cheyenne Kid—was a famed early-1900s boxer who fought more than 50 professional bouts, including a knockout win over Kid Bell for the featherweight title, and later served as a Cheyenne police officer while remaining in remarkable shape into his later years. His career and community ties helped cement his legacy in Wyoming sports history.

Former Wyoming Cowgirl Tess Barnes signed a contract to play with Tapiolan Honka of Finland's Naisten Korisliiga League after graduating from the University of Wyoming.

Barnes, who led her team in 3-pointers during her final two seasons — reaching 154 career threes — said she is excited to begin her new basketball journey.

Today at the Shrine Bowl football game, five players were honored at halftime with the Scotty Scott Outstanding Citizens Awards—each received a $500 scholarship and an equal charity donation in tribute to Sheridan’s Homer Scott who passed in 2023.

Their coaches nominated the recipients based on service, volunteerism, and character.

Eight Wyoming Cowboys were named to Phil Steele's 2025 Preseason All-Mountain West Team—repeat honorees John Michael Gyllenborg and Jack Walsh join six others as the team prepares for the new season.
