CRIME NEWS

  • One person died after a shooting on Tuesday, June 24 in the 1200 block of County Road 157—about eight miles west of Pine Bluffs—while the Laramie County Sheriff's Office continues its investigation.  KGAB
  • A Cheyenne man was arrested for two counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon when deputies responded at 1:36 a.m. on June 17 to a domestic disturbance on the 1000 block of Alice Court—two women reported he aimed a handgun and threatened Russian Roulette.  Cap City News
  • A 33-year-old Cheyenne man named Bryan O’Neal Cunningham was arrested at 5:30 p.m. Friday, June 20 at Westland Rd. for allegedly assaulting a pregnant woman and strangling a household member — his $10K cash bond was set on Tuesday, June 24 and his preliminary hearing is scheduled for Wednesday, July 2 at 3:45 p.m.  106.3 Cowboy Country

  • Wyoming author Steven W. Horn will launch his new mystery novel 'Lost & Found Cafe' at Wyoming Home in Cheyenne on July 10 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Readers can also meet him at signings on July 26 in Centennial, Aug. 2 in Thermopolis, and Aug. 9 in Casper (he is a decorated Vietnam veteran).  Cap City News

EDUCATION NEWS

  • South High students have traded textbooks for trail maps as they visit two national parks in a wildlife adventure supported by local community funds (school officials say the trip will offer hands-on learning in conservation). The adventure will let students see real wildlife and learn about nature up close.  Wyoming Tribune Eagle

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Yesterday, Wyoming former governors said proposed public land sales risked curbing outdoor freedom as horizontal drilling began boosting oil production and three Cheyenne teens were charged with arson after a vacant home fire. State House representatives in red coats warned that a looming $700 million deficit would force spending cuts—adding to debates over federal land transfers and shifting gun sales.  Cowboy State Daily

HEALTH NEWS

  • Three mosquito pools in Albany County tested positive for West Nile Virus, adding to positive tests in Laramie and Natrona counties; there have been no human or animal cases reported. Officials said spraying and larval control will continue in high-risk areas (areas used for evening recreation) and new tests (scheduled for next week) will monitor virus spread.  Cap City News
