Today, the Wyoming Capitol Square hosts a full-day event marking Wyoming Statehood Day and the kickoff to America’s 250th birthday with tours, food trucks, and scheduled presentations from noon to 8 p.m.—if weather disrupts outdoor events, activities will move indoors.

Cheyenne has a busy week of events ahead of Cheyenne Frontier Days — the town will host an Old Fashioned Melodrama at Atlas Theatre, an Art Walk downtown, a rodeo with a chuckwagon dinner, a pop punk show at the Downtown Depot Plaza, and a Watchhouse concert on Saturday.

A free show by the Cheyenne Civic Concert Band is scheduled for Tuesday at Lions Park — giving locals many options for live music and Western fun.

Federal legislation has cut funding for Wyoming’s SNAP-Ed program (administered by the University of Wyoming Extension’s Cent$ible Nutrition Program) effective September 30, which will end most free nutrition education classes statewide.

The program now must rely on a limited EFNEP grant (with potential carryover funds) as it works to serve families with fewer food resources.

Cheyenne Frontier Days parade goers will see street closures and movable vehicle barriers start at 8:00 a.m. today—new measures put in place by the Cheyenne/Laramie County Emergency Management Agency and local partners aim to keep unauthorized traffic off the parade route and surrounding roads.

Yesterday, the Wyoming State Capitol opened at noon to new exhibits celebrating statehood and Wyoming’s firsts — a labor of love developed over three years — with a ribbon cutting led by state officials and private tours for visitors.

Tyler Wade and his partner Wesley Thorp earned a spot in the quarterfinals on July 10 at Frontier Park during team roping qualifiers ahead of Cheyenne Frontier Days, which start next week.

The two-time world champion header is set to compete further — his performance will be key as the event approaches.
