COMMUNITY NEWS

  • The United States Air Force Thunderbirds will headline the Wings Over Wyoming Air Show at Francis E. Warren Air Force Base on July 26 when the free show begins at 10:30 a.m.—parking opens at 6:30 a.m. Visitors must remain on the open field and note that vehicles and hand carried items will be subject to search.  KING FM

CRIME NEWS

  • A 19-year-old Cheyenne man awaiting a prison sentence for sexual assault was charged on July 4 with restraining & assaulting a fellow inmate at Laramie County Detention Center and now faces aggravated assault and battery as well as felonious restraint charges while his preliminary hearing is set for July 18 at 9:00 a.m.  106.3 Cowboy Country

CULTURE NEWS

  • Cheyenne’s Capitol Avenue Bronze Project nears its goal of 100 sculptures after 82 have been installed and nine more are planned, fulfilling art dealer Harvey Deselms’ dream to honor local history. The privately funded project — credited with boosting downtown tourism — will add more statues after reaching its milestone to further celebrate Wyoming’s cultural legacy.  Cowboy State Daily

ECONOMY NEWS

  • After three weeks of declining prices, the national average gas price rose 2 cents to $3.11 per gallon while Laramie County prices dropped 4 cents to $2.85 on Monday. The lowest price in the county was $2.66 at Loaf ‘N Jug on E. Lincolnway — a sign of ongoing local differences amid national price gains.  Cap City News

  • Today the LCSD1 board meets at 5 p.m. via Zoom and 6 p.m. in person at Storey Gym Boardroom, 2811 House Ave. to review a $440 million budget that raises teacher salaries, funds facility upkeep and supports a new charter school—community input will be welcomed during the livestreamed session.  Cap City News

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • The Wyoming Game and Fish Department advised Cheyenne anglers yesterday to avoid catch-and-release fishing when water temperatures hit 70 degrees to help trout survive—water above 80 degrees can kill fish quickly. The department suggested anglers monitor water temperatures with a thermometer and fish early when water is cooler.  Cap City News

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The Wyoming Department of Transportation launched an online self-guided public meeting to gather input on its 2050 Long Range Transportation Plan—this plan will guide transportation decisions for the next 25 years with input from stakeholders and the public.  Cap City News
  • Laramie County commissioners met on Tuesday, Feb. 18 at 3:30 p.m. at the Historic Courthouse to review proposals for Wit’s End Adventure Park, a new residential subdivision at Archer Estates, and various county service changes. The board also held public hearings on revised land use regulations, a fee schedule, and a resolution to ban open carry in county buildings effective July 15 — following recommendations from the Planning Commission after extensive community outreach.  Cap City News
  • Cheyenne City Council met on March 24 and discussed key items including the 15th Street Railcar project, plans for the Pump House, and several rezoning and annexation proposals to guide future growth—critics labeled the railcar plan a boondoggle while major contracts for public infrastructure were also examined.  Cap City News
