COMMUNITY NEWS

  • On Monday morning, the Kiwanis Club of Cheyenne held the first Cheyenne Frontier Days Pancake Breakfast and served free flapjacks to thousands of residents and visitors as part of a drill for feeding many in an emergency. More breakfasts will be offered on Wednesday and Friday between 7 and 9 a.m.—using over 4,000 pounds of pancake mix and 400 gallons of syrup.  KGAB

CRIME NEWS

  • Two Wyoming women—Mary Renee Weymouth of Lander and Cathy Kay Gordon of Shoshoni—were federally sentenced on July 14 in Cheyenne after being intercepted in Fremont County while returning from Las Vegas with six pounds of meth and 29 pounds of marijuana, with Weymouth receiving nearly six years and Gordon 10 years after a charge for carrying a firearm.  Cap City News

ECONOMY NEWS

  • After a brief one-week uptick, the national gas average dropped to $3.09 per gallon while Laramie County’s average rose 11 cents to $2.96 — a change that has pushed it away from being among the state’s cheapest, with Walmart and Moody’s Rock Stop offering fuel at $2.76 per gallon. This shift comes as overall prices fluctuate amid changing oil costs and local market dynamics.  Cap City News

  • The City of Cheyenne announced that schedules will change for Cheyenne Day on July 23—city offices, transit services, and select waste facilities will be closed while residential trash pickup remains on schedule and recreational venues like the Aquatic Center and Ice & Events Center will operate with modified hours.  Cap City News
  • Air Force officials are investigating the early Sunday morning death of an unnamed airman from the 90th Missile Wing while he was on duty; the Air Force Office of Special Investigations said the incident is isolated (no threat exists to the base or nearby residents).  KGAB
