CRIME NEWS

  • A Connecticut woman named Anisha Chonay Wilson was charged on July 9 with felony theft, felony forgery and misdemeanor identity theft after a Cheyenne investigation uncovered unauthorized bank withdrawals and a fraudulent check deposit from a First National Bank of Omaha account—records show her personal information was misused while she remains on active probation.  Cap City News
  • A 37-year-old Cheyenne man with an extensive theft record was arrested on Aug. 3 at 8:15 p.m. after police, acting on a suspicious person call, found him with stolen items from Cheyenne Vision Clinic and Walmart—he now faces felony theft, burglary, and probation violation charges with court hearings set for Aug. 12 and Aug. 15.  KGAB
  • A Cheyenne man aged 34—previously convicted of domestic battery—was arrested at 6:15 p.m. on Aug. 5 for allegedly injuring a household member and causing over $1,000 in property damage; he will face a preliminary hearing on Aug. 15 at 9:45 a.m.  KGAB
  • Ronald Jermone McNeill Jr.—a 37-year-old man with an extensive theft history—was arrested on Aug. 3 at Bent Avenue and West 25th Street after police called him suspicious; he faces preliminary hearings on Aug. 12 for a theft charge and on Aug. 15 for a burglary charge with a cash bond set at $8,000.  KING FM

CULTURE NEWS

  • The Cheyenne Symphony Orchestra announced its 2025 Make ME the Maestro candidates — Tammy Bauman, Petrina Peart, and Mistie Woods — who will seek community votes through donations. Music Director Maestro Intriligator said the fundraiser will give the winner a chance to choose and conduct a piece with the orchestra.  Cap City News

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Gary Addington has been named Laramie County Community College’s new athletic director and will begin his role on Sept. 8; he comes with over 20 years of higher education experience and 14 years as athletic director at Otero College—he is expected to guide student-athlete success.  Cap City News

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • On Tuesday, the Laramie County Board of Commissioners approved several agreements, including a $253,571.40 Minimum Revenue Guarantee program to support SkyWest Airlines flights between Cheyenne and Denver, a transit funding program, and contracts for appraisal, fire safety, public health and event management. The board set funding levels ranging from $7,420 to over $162,000 for projects running until June 30, with local entities & Wyoming covering part of the costs.  Cap City News
