ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • A new report finds Wyoming teen fatalities are nearly triple the national average — with 34 deaths per 100,000 teens and over five times higher speeding fatalities compared to other states. The report explains that a 10-day learner permit period leaves teens with only a few weeks of supervised driving before they drive alone.  KING FM

CRIME NEWS

  • A 42-year-old Cheyenne woman was arrested on Aug. 18 at East 13th Street and Campbell Avenue for felony meth possession after previous drug offenses and was set with a $3,000 cash bond on Aug. 20 with her next hearing scheduled for Aug. 27 at 2:15 p.m.  KGAB
  • Cheyenne police arrested 42-year-old Elizabeth Leeann Clark at East 13th Street and Campbell Avenue at 1 a.m. on Aug. 18 for felony meth possession—she now faces additional charges for repeat offenses, a $3,000 cash bond was set, weekly drug tests were ordered, and a preliminary hearing is scheduled for Aug. 27 at 2:15 p.m.  KING FM

ECONOMY NEWS

  • A joint venture and major tech companies plan to build datacenters south of Cheyenne that will initially require 1,800 megawatts—expanding to 10,000 megawatts, a figure that matches the state’s current power capacity—while state regulators and the Wyoming Energy Authority work on proposals to ensure large-load customers cover their own costs.  Cap City News

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The Wyoming Department of State Parks and Cultural Resources is accepting applications for the 2026 Non Motorized Recreational Trails Program with $567,500 available statewide for trail maintenance, construction, repair and winter trail grooming reimbursement on a per mile per hour basis—pre-applications are due on Sept. 1 and full applications are due by Oct. 1.  Cap City News
  • Milling and repaving on Dell Range Boulevard will begin Sunday evening, Aug 24, with crews working from Marble Avenue to Powderhouse Road—starting with the outer westbound lane and then repeating the process with the remaining lanes. The project will run overnight Sunday through Thursday and is expected to take about 90 days weather permitting while keeping access to affected residences and businesses.  Cap City News

HEALTH NEWS

  • Cheyenne VA Health Care System broke ground on August 15 at 2360 E. Pershing Blvd., starting a major expansion that will nearly double its emergency department from 3,000 to 7,500 square feet to better serve over 30,000 enrolled veterans; construction will take about 24 months and the facility will continue offering 24/7 emergency services during upgrades.  Cap City News

SPORTS NEWS

  • Registration is now open for the City of Cheyenne 3-6 Youth Basketball League with early registration through Aug. 28 and late registration until Sept. 11 with a $25 fee if space is available. Practices start Oct. 27 and games begin Nov. 8—league cost is $65 per player and covers six games, a shirt, a basketball, a team picture, and an award.  City of Cheyenne
