- ➤ After being lost for a week during a family camping trip in the Wind River Mountains, a seven-year-old Siberian husky named Beo was reunited with his family in Cheyenne Friday. He was found near Papoose Lake by two caring hikers and taken for a veterinarian check-up (at noon) to ensure he is well. Cowboy State Daily
- ➤ Cheyenne will celebrate the end of summer this Labor Day weekend with events—such as a patio party at the Downtown Depot Museum Giftshop with live music from Josh Gonzales, a rodeo with a chuckwagon dinner, a Randy Travis concert with James Dupre, a vibrant Farmers Market, and Emo Karaoke Night at The Lincoln Thursday—that offer residents a festive way to welcome the new month. 106.3 Cowboy Country
CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Following an Aug. 14 traffic stop on Interstate 25 in Laramie County, two Wyoming men—Ethan John Zimmerman and Wayne Edgar Rosson—faced felony drug charges after a K-9 alert led officers to find fentanyl pills and controlled substances in their truck. Cap City News
- ➤ Cheyenne police arrested 74-year-old James Eric Calkins on Aug. 15 after he reportedly defrauded a local credit union by cashing several fraudulent checks in July—he now faces forgery charges and a $3,000 bond. Cap City News
- ➤ Matthew Brandon Spoon, a 33-year-old Cheyenne man, was arrested at 8:30 a.m. on Aug. 15 at the Maverik on N. College Dr for DUI and expired registration — he was also charged with felony theft for allegedly stealing a firearm. He appeared in court on Aug. 20 with a $3,000 bond set and will have a preliminary hearing on Aug. 27 at 2:15 p.m. 106.3 Cowboy Country

- ➤ Mayor Collins outlined plans for a public-private project that may build up to 184 affordable housing units in Cheyenne—he also noted a free concert series starting in September, new business expansion, and workforce training for data centers while reminding drivers to watch for school children.
