BUSINESS NEWS

  • Three Wyoming business leaders—namely the Wold Family, Chuck Brown, and Jay Kemmerer—were inducted into the Wyoming Business Hall of Fame as local groups celebrated their long-lasting impact on the state’s economy and community; a Forum to honor their achievements is scheduled for November.  KING FM

CRIME NEWS

  • A 74-year-old Cheyenne man was arrested at his workplace on August 15 at 1:30 p.m. on charges of forgery and theft involving a forged check from USAA Federal Savings Bank—he appeared in Circuit Court on August 18 when his bond was set at $3,000 cash or surety and his preliminary hearing is scheduled for August 28 at 2 p.m.  KGAB
  • After a one-month pause due to the July 20 fatal shooting of Air Force airman Brayden Lovan at Cheyenne’s F.E. Warren Air Force Base, the Air Force Global Strike Command reinstated the Sig Sauer M18 pistol following a comprehensive inspection of 7,970 units that found issues with 191 weapons—now undergoing repairs as enhanced checks are ordered.  Cowboy State Daily
  • A 74-year-old man from Cheyenne is accused of forging a check and stealing over $1,000 when he was arrested at his job at 1:30 p.m. on Aug. 15, and he is set to appear in court on Aug. 28 with a bond of $3,000 cash or surety (each charge carries penalties of up to 10 years in prison or a $10,000 fine).  KING FM
  • A Laramie County fire chief and his wife pleaded not guilty to felony charges of aggravated child abuse and conspiracy after prosecutors said they isolated and underfed their 13-year-old adopted son—he weighed 55 lbs and suffered severe malnourishment after being dropped off at a youth center on June 22.  Cap City News

ECONOMY NEWS

  • Laramie County gas prices jumped 19 cents this week, raising the average to $2.86 and moving it to Wyoming’s third cheapest, while Natrona County’s price dropped to $2.71 and reclaimed the top spot. AAA data shows that Sam’s Club sells fuel at $2.63 — a sign of shifting local trends.  Cap City News
  • A GasBuddy survey shows Wyoming gas prices have ticked up to $3.03 a gallon today while remaining 27.8 cents lower than a year ago — with stations pricing gas as low as $2.56 and as high as $3.99 among 494 surveyed. National gas prices have risen slightly, but Wyoming stations offer a bargain compared to many parts of the country.  KING FM

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Cheyenne’s City Council is meeting today at 6 p.m. in the Council Chambers at the Municipal Building to review an annexation of 18.62 acres for new developments and to revise vehicle noise regulations—also considering zoning changes for about 10.94 acres. The council will further review resolutions to purchase a new wildland brush truck and agreements for transit and senior transportation services.  Cap City News
