  • A 29-year-old man from Minatare was arrested at 9:40 a.m. Thursday, August 28 at East 13th Street and Platte Avenue in Cheyenne on felony theft charges—his preliminary hearing is set for today at 9 a.m. in Laramie County Circuit Court after a judge appointed him a public defender.  106.3 Cowboy Country

EDUCATION NEWS

  • A judge denied Wyoming’s motion to dismiss a lawsuit challenging its universal school voucher program—this decision means the legal challenge will continue in court.  Wyoming Tribune Eagle

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Today, a strong cold front moves through Cheyenne — bringing gusty winds and a taste of fall as the high reaches 83 before showers and lows near 44 tonight. Cooler air will hold into tomorrow with a high near 63 and gusts up to 35 mph — signaling a continuing shift in the weather.  Cap City News
  • Wyoming sagegrouse lek attendance rose 11% this spring with an average of 31 males per active lek—thanks to well-timed winter moisture, though a dry summer raised concerns about lower counts next year. Officials noted that natural seven- to nine-year population cycles mean numbers may shift with changing weather.  KING FM

  • At F.E. Warren Air Force Base in Cheyenne, the Air Force took the first Minuteman III silo offline to make room for new Sentinel missiles—this upgrade will modernize our nuclear force and bring more jobs and companies to the area.  Cowboy State Daily
