COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Even though Wyoming has few people, it ranks ninth in food insecurity and that has led the Food Bank of Wyoming to start Hunger Action Month this September. The group will host a fundraiser that matches donations up to $45,000—neighbors are asked to donate and help with events like a Governor’s Proclamation on September 8 and Hunger Action Day on September 9.  KING FM

CRIME NEWS

  • The Laramie County weekly arrest log from August 29 to September 5 shows law enforcement contacts with suspects and lists charges from DUI to assault plus notes that all individuals are presumed innocent until proven guilty in court.  Cap City News

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The Wyoming Game and Fish Department’s Commercial Fishing Boat Advisory Board voted on changes to proposed Chapter 71 regulations—covering fees, reporting, boat registration, and decal transferability—to balance program costs. The revised rules will be sent to the Wyoming Game and Fish Commission at its Sept. 9-10 meeting in Lander for public comment.  Cap City News
  • Cheyenne officials said the run-down Historic Pumphouse—built in 1892 and needing $4 million to fix—is on sale and a buyer must be found by January or the building may be demolished. Preservation board members said any buyer must restore the structure to strict heritage standards to keep its historical value intact.  Cowboy State Daily

  • Wyoming high school football scores from last week show that Cheyenne East defeated Cheyenne South 66 to 0 as varsity-on-varsity games were played in various classes from Sept. 4 to Sept. 5. The report highlighted local Laramie County teams (in bold) among statewide matchups.  Cap City News
  • The Wyoming Cowgirls lost in four sets at the South Dakota State Invitational on Saturday—dropping 25-21, 16-25, 22-25, 12-25. Addy Thorington led the team with 11 kills as the loss marked a challenging start to the tournament.  Cap City News
