🎓 Education
Cheyenne native Kiyona Howard was recently elected to Phi Kappa Phi (the nation’s oldest collegiate honor society) at LSU Shreveport.
She joins a select group recognized for academic excellence.
Three area seniors have been named National Merit Scholarship semifinalists—Sutter Allen of Burns High School, Malea Adams-Case and Henry McGuire of Central High School—and they will compete for about 6,700 awards next spring.
🏛️ Government
Cheyenne City Council will soon vote on a $647,154 contract to restore over 200,000 sqft of asphalt at Lions and Cahill Parks (involving asphalt milling, patching, grading, and striping) using existing funds.
If approved, local contractor STC Construction Co. is expected to finish work by the end of October.
The Cheyenne Board of Public Utilities received the Friends of RMWEA – Municipality Award for its role in the Value of Water documentary, recognizing its support and partnership with RMWEA.
The utility coordinated interviews with staff and showcased a hydroelectric facility that generates electricity for the water treatment plant.
🏥 Health
Cheyenne Regional Medical Center recognized its newest DAISY and VIP Award winners for exceptional care, teamwork & commitment.
The honors went to Rosa Williams, Elsje Breitkopf, and Amber Ratcliff along with quarterly winners Joseph Carpi, Dr. Natalie Howard, Colleen Montoya and an annual VIP Team Award to its MRI Technologists.
