- ➤ The annual Truck Convoy for Special Olympics will return to Cheyenne on Sept. 20 to raise funds and awareness for Special Olympics Wyoming athletes. Trucks will gather at the WYDOT yard at 5300 Bishop Blvd, registration starts at 9 a.m., and the convoy begins at 10:30 a.m.—attendees can watch the route and join breakfast and lunch events nearby. ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ At South Pass, a motorist’s collision with an elk on Sept. 2, 2025 led to a chain reaction of accidents that killed a family of black bears and another bear later that day—prompting wildlife officials to warn drivers of the hazards of uncollected roadkill. Cap City News

- ➤ Cheyenne hosts two in-development data centers for Meta and Microsoft — a Crusoe and Tallgrass partnership shows the city is a prime spot for tech projects. More companies plan to build centers here soon. Wyoming Tribune Eagle

- ➤ Artists can now submit up to four works for the 45th Annual Western Spirit Juried Art Show & Sale, with entries accepted online until Nov. 1. The exhibition will run from March 7 to April 19, 2026—artists will be notified of acceptance by Dec. 12 and fees are $20 per piece with discounts for museum members. Cap City News
- ➤ Cheyenne artists and organizations can apply for three Wyoming Arts Council grant programs to fund arts projects through June 30—this includes a Creative Aging Project Grant for adults 55 and older with a Sept.29 deadline, a Professional Development/Career Advancement Grant, and an Arts Access Project Grant for groups serving limited resources. All applicants must submit their materials at least six weeks before their projects begin in fiscal year 2026. Cap City News

- ➤ Cheyenne residents will have the opportunity to attend Discovery Day on Sept. 25 — the Wyoming Air National Guard’s 153rd Airlift Wing will host the state's largest STEAM event featuring hands-on science, technology, engineering, art and math exhibits. - ➤ A study by University of Wyoming researchers found that mule deer avoid areas when cheatgrass covers 20% or more of the land, which could render up to half of their habitat in northeast Wyoming unusable in the coming decades—targeted herbicide treatments may help restore these areas. - ➤ A new report from UW Extension finds Wyoming’s agricultural community is preparing for drought and water shortages after listening sessions held from June 2023 to May 2024 — service providers want more weather stations and easier-to-use forecasting tools to guide future decisions. The report will help UW Extension improve local weather data and support producers in facing these challenges. Cap City News

- ➤ The Laramie County Board of County Commissioners is urging residents to register to vote for next year's elections during a National Voter Registration Day event at the Laramie County Library's Cottonwood Room on Sept. 16 from 2 to 7 p.m. — County Clerk Debra Lee advised eligible voters to bring a government-issued ID to meet new citizenship and residency laws. - ➤ The Cheyenne Housing and Community Development Office has launched its Program Year 2026 Community Development Block Grant funding cycle—two training sessions are planned for interested organizations. Wyoming Tribune Eagle

- ➤ Registration is open for Cheyenne’s K-2 Youth Basketball League that will begin in January 2026, with early sign-ups available through Oct 23 and late registration ending Nov 6 with a $25 fee if space is available—players pay $65 and receive six games, a shirt, a basketball, a team picture and an award while practices start Jan 5 and games begin Jan 10 on Saturdays and possibly some Friday evenings. - ➤ The University of Wyoming cowgirl golf team finished second at the Wolverine Invitational in Saratoga Springs—breaking school records with its lowest tournament score of negative 11. Elle Higgins led with a new individual record of 68 and the team will next compete at the Ram Classic Sept. 22 to 23 at Ptarmigan Golf Club. Cap City News
