- ➤ Black Dog Animal Rescue is hosting its Bark and Wine Gala—presented by Dr. Elsey’s—on Oct. 4 to raise funds for its programs in Cheyenne. Wyoming Tribune Eagle
- ➤ Disabled American Veterans will hold a benefits seminar in Cheyenne to help veterans and their families access support—this nonprofit assists over one million veterans each year—and more details will be announced soon. Wyoming Tribune Eagle
- ➤ The Laramie County School District 1 nurses were named Community Partner of the Year by the University of Wyoming’s Fay W. Whitney School of Nursing—an award recognizing their dedicated service to local residents. Wyoming Tribune Eagle
CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ Arts Cheyenne launched a new interactive online art map that showcases more than 240 public art pieces across the Cheyenne metro area—developed by Michael Launer to serve as a self-guided tour for community members and tourists. The map features work by over 115 artists, including murals on the water tower by Jordan Dean and projects by the Wyoming Arts Council. Cap City News
- ➤ Submissions for the 2026 Governor’s Capitol Art Exhibition are open for Wyoming artists to show their work and honor the state’s landscapes and people—applications must be in by Oct. 18. Selected art will be displayed at the Capitol from Feb. 9 through Aug. 8. Cap City News
- ➤ Cheyenne hosts many events this weekend — Anime 307 at The Archer brings fans and voice actors together while a Greek Festival celebrates local heritage with food and dancing. EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Camila Vazquez, a senior at South High School, was named LCSD1’s Student of the Week for Sept. 15 for her leadership, strong academics, and commitment to South's core values. She serves as student body president and earned the Seal of Biliteracy with honors plus she takes advanced placement classes and works with younger students in a leadership program. Cap City News
- ➤ A Cheyenne Spanish teacher from Cheyenne East High School, Mason Magagna, was honored with the national Travelers Award from the NEA Foundation as one of 48 educators. He said he is just doing his job and will use the recognition to support public education in Wyoming. Cap City News
- ➤ This summer, East High theater students traveled to Indianapolis for The Thespy’s national theater competition and earned high ratings—showing their skill and dedication. Wyoming Tribune Eagle
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ The Laramie County Sheriff’s Office launched the Avel eCare program— a virtual service that connects people in crisis with licensed mental health providers. The program reduces response times and was funded by a grant from the Wyoming Association of Sheriffs and Chiefs of Police. Cap City News
- ➤ Drivers on I-80 west of Cheyenne may face short delays next week — utility work is planned to upgrade systems along the route. Wyoming Tribune Eagle
