GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Contractors with Black Hills Energy will begin power line crossing work Monday on I-80 near mile marker 354.17 and will work for up to three days as weather and equipment availability may affect the schedule. Drivers can expect periodic 10-minute stops with reduced speeds — lane closures are not planned. KFBC
- ➤ The Wyoming Game and Fish Department announced that watercraft registration for 2025 will close in October — boaters must register before then as new registrations, offering one-year terms valid through 2026 and three-year terms valid through 2028, will begin on Nov. 1 while aquatic invasive species decals will remain available in October. - ➤ Rudy ‘Butch’ Stanko—an infamous Wyoming cattleman—challenged Montana’s vague speeding law after a 121 mph ticket led him to the Montana Supreme Court in 1998. His appeal forced lawmakers to set clear numerical speed limits, ending the unregulated era known as the Montanabahn. Cowboy State Daily
SPORTS NEWS
- ➤ The University of Wyoming Cowboys lost 31—6 to the Utah Utes on Sept. 13 as Utah's offense, led by QB Devon Dampier, scored 28 points in the second half after a quiet first half left the Cowboys unable to score. Coach Jay Sawvel said the loss showed the team—now 2—1—has both offensive and defensive issues that they will try to fix before their next Big 12 game against Colorado on Sept. 20. Cap City News
