- ➤ The Cheyenne YMCA has served our town for nearly 70 years and will close on Sept. 26 because it lacks 800 members and needs $8 million in repairs — a change that worries many local users — as financial issues persist. Cowboy State Daily
- ➤ The Cheyenne YMCA Branch changed membership hours today and announced it will suspend operations indefinitely starting September 26. Wyoming Tribune Eagle
ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ A late-night fire on Ridge Road displaced three families and caused $199,654 in damage as Cheyenne Fire Rescue crews responded at 10:27 p.m. Thursday, safely evacuating everyone, controlling the heavy flames within 10 minutes, and continuing to investigate the cause — officials confirmed no injuries occurred. - ➤ Laramie County drivers saw their average gas price rise 4 cents to $2.91 today even though the national average dropped 3.6 cents to $3.12 per gallon & GasBuddy data shows this shift moved Laramie County from Wyoming’s second-cheapest fueling option to third. Cap City News
- ➤ GasBuddy's survey shows Wyoming's average gas price dropped 2.3 cents per gallon to $3.07/g today. Prices are 18.3 cents lower than a year ago but 4.2 cents higher than last month — a small fluctuation in fuel costs. KGAB
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Jeff and Kim French established the Cowboy State Scholarship to support Wyoming students studying STEM, agriculture, and trades. The scholarship gives $1,000 per year — split between fall and spring—to two eligible students who must have a 2.5 GPA, enroll in six credits, and meet financial need criteria. KING FM

- ➤ The Wyoming Business Council Board of Directors approved a rule change that now requires local communities to add a 25% funding match for economic development projects—Sheridan will see this new requirement applied. Wyoming Tribune Eagle
- ➤ Laramie County commissioners met on Jan 7 at the Historic Courthouse at 3:30 p.m. and reviewed over $1 million in grant applications—these included a request for over $250,000 for a rapid DNA system for the Coroner’s Office, nearly $320,000 for animal containment panels at the Archer Complex, and a $37,000 purchase for tactical throwbots, along with several land use proposals and nonprofit funding amendments.
