COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Circle of Cheyenne Citizen Warriors and Friends and Unitarian Universalist Church of Cheyenne will host a community potluck this Saturday to bring neighbors together.  Wyoming Tribune Eagle
  • Visitors to Kiwanis Community Park are reminded not to feed neighboring horses or other wildlife and must keep their dogs on leash — complaints prompted the posted signs. The City warns that feeding horses can cause serious health issues and even lead to accidental injuries — urging all park users to follow the rules closely.  City of Cheyenne

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Laramie County School District 1 trustees awarded standout honors to South High student Camila Vazquez, Carey Junior High’s David Snyder, and secondary math coordinator Dr. Amy Kassel while hearing public input on facility use fees. The board then approved a fundraising motion for East High School’s National Honor Society to cover a trip to Washington, D.C.—scheduled for Feb. 26 to March 2.  Cap City News

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • On September 23, the LCSD1 Board approved a nearly $1.5 million deal for eight new school buses from Elder Equipment Leasing — these buses replace older ones that met state criteria — using its transport budget. The board also approved two-year service contracts with Kone Elevator and Pye Barker Inc. — one for elevator work and one for kitchen inspections — with the Wyoming Department of Education set to reimburse the full bus cost over five years.  Cap City News
  • Cheyenne lawmakers advanced a bill draft on government data privacy in a Wyoming Legislature committee this week — the move may lead to further review before a full vote.  Wyoming Tribune Eagle
  • Cheyenne residents will be offered free car seat safety checks this Saturday — part of NHTSA's Child Passenger Safety Week running Sept. 21-27.  Wyoming Tribune Eagle
  • Cheyenne police chief Mark Francisco said his department will enforce a new noise ordinance using decibel measurements on moving vehicles—an updated rule set to take effect Saturday that also includes penalties for repeat offenders. The council approved the ordinance on Monday after public debate, and a review is scheduled for October 31 to assess its impact.  Cowboy State Daily
  • On Monday, the Cheyenne City Council gave its second reading approval for County Pocket Annexation 7 to add 35 properties and extend services like police, fire and sanitation to the area—then it began the process for County Pocket Annexation 8 covering 20 properties and started steps to rezone part of downtown for future development.  Cap City News

HEALTH NEWS

  • Between September 15th and 19th, the Cheyenne-Laramie County Health Department inspected restaurants, bars, delis and grocery stores and found both critical and noncritical food safety violations that businesses fixed immediately or within 24 hours + the report noted that locations like Little Caesars, Loaf and Jug and Meadowlark Academy had multiple issues while others such as Nicki’s Child Care and Wyoming Downs had few or no problems. Officials used these findings to guide improvements in food safety education + they aim to help businesses better meet safe practices.  Cap City News
