CULTURE NEWS

  • Cheyenne welcomes a week of Oktoberfest events as Fuel plays a free show tonight at the Civic Center—local breweries host celebrations like Black Tooth Brewing’s, while families can visit the Autumn Fest Pumpkin Patch, the kite festival on Saturday, and a German concert on Sunday by LCCC Music.  106.3 Cowboy Country
  • The Wyoming Arts Council in Cheyenne is accepting applications for the 2026 Neltje Blanchan Memorial Writing Award Inspired by Nature and the Frank Nelson Doubleday Memorial Writing Award—applicants need to follow the council's guidelines to be considered for these honors.  Wyoming Tribune Eagle

  • The State of Wyoming Economic Analysis Division released an updated edition of Just the Facts that reported 2024 data on demographics, education, economy and more—showing that Wyoming ranks fourth for its sheep and lamb population and has a median household income of $72K. The publication also noted that Natrona County had about 79,941 people and a median age of 39.  KING FM

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • University of Wyoming Extension released two free online guides to help local gardeners grow native plants. The resources (which include planting tips and care instructions) offer practical advice for those looking to use native species in their gardens.  Wyoming Tribune Eagle

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The Department of Veterans Affairs awarded $10,917,945 to Volunteers of America Northern Rockies to help veterans at risk of homelessness in Wyoming. The grant will fund housing, health care, financial planning, childcare and legal support during fiscal year 2026—supporting crucial services for veterans in need.  Cap City News
  • On Thursday, September 25th, Wyoming Secretary of State Chuck Gray sent 2,018 voter records—showing individuals with out-of-state driver's licenses—to all 23 county clerks for voter list maintenance.  Wyoming Tribune Eagle

HEALTH NEWS

  • Over 420,000 turkeys have been culled in South Dakota due to a bird flu outbreak linked to wild birds, with the disease detected in several commercial flocks. Cheyenne poultry owners are told to keep coops and feed clean—steps meant to protect backyard flocks from infection.  Cowboy State Daily
