COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Greta Maxfield, a licensed clinical social worker with years of nonprofit experience, was named CEO of Make-A-Wish Wyoming in Casper after joining the organization in September—she succeeds Morgan Poloncic. She will lead programs that grant wishes and support children facing critical illnesses.  Cap City News
  • On Oct. 29, the Cheyenne Police Department will host a Trunk-or-Treat celebration at the Cheyenne Public Safety Center at 415 W. 18th St.—families can enjoy a safe community event.  Wyoming Tribune Eagle

CRIME NEWS

  • An Airman with the 90th Missile Wing was found dead at an off-base residence in Fort Collins on Tuesday — police said another person was taken to a local hospital and the Airman's name is being withheld until next-of-kin are notified.  KFBC

CULTURE NEWS

  • The deadline for entries to the 2026 Governor’s Capitol Art Exhibition is October 18th — artists from Cheyenne and nearby areas have until then to submit their work.  Wyoming Tribune Eagle
  • Famed Wyoming photographer Tom Mangelsen remembered his 25-year friendship with primatologist Jane Goodall, who died Wednesday at age 91 as her work with wildlife inspired him during trips in Wyoming — his memories show her lasting impact on nature and conservation.  Cowboy State Daily
  • The Cheyenne Symphony Orchestra will open its season with a concert titled 'Of Thee I Sing' featuring works by Bernstein, Barber and Ives and special guest soprano Christie Conover. The event will take place on Oct. 11 at the Cheyenne Civic Center and a free Lunch and Learn is scheduled on Oct. 10 at the Laramie County Public Library—tickets start at $25 and livestream options at $25.  Cap City News

  • The Cheyenne City Council is holding a work session at noon tomorrow+ to review plans for Cheyenne Fire Rescue projects that may appear on next year's sixth-penny sales tax ballot.  Wyoming Tribune Eagle

HEALTH NEWS

  • Over 40,000 Wyoming residents will face higher health insurance premiums if Congress does not extend tax credits that keep costs low in the Marketplace. Laramie resident Jessica Brauer said her monthly cost will rise from $325 to $816—nearly as much as her mortgage—if the credits expire after December.  Cap City News
