CULTURE NEWS

  • Wyoming is planning a huge western celebration for America’s 250th birthday next year that will feature historic rides, cowboy poetry, and new attractions to draw tourists. The program is backed by $2 million from the Legislature and will offer activities like app-based scavenger hunts and special exhibits at historic sites.  Cowboy State Daily

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Christine Adams is named the new Executive Director of the Wyoming Stock Growers Land Trust and brings extensive experience in conservation and advocacy to protect Wyoming’s working lands and rural heritage. A Wyoming native, Adams will work with ranchers and policymakers—building partnerships to secure a sustainable future for the state.  KING FM
  • The Wyoming Game and Fish Department reminds hunters and campers today that dry fall conditions may increase wildfire risks if campfires are not managed properly — officials urge strict adherence to safety guidelines — to protect local lands.  Wyoming Tribune Eagle

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Gov. Mark Gordon appointed Christopher Boswell to serve on the Wyoming Public Service Commission and help review public utility policies.  Wyoming Tribune Eagle
  • U.S. Sen. John Barrasso, joined by Senate colleagues John Thune and Cynthia Lummis, introduced the Grasslands Grazing Act to ease public land use for grazing—aiming to simplify the process for ranchers. The bill now awaits review in Senate committees.  Wyoming Tribune Eagle
  • Members of Wyoming's House Freedom Caucus announced that starting in 2026, Cheyenne homeowners who want the 25% property tax cut must sign up by Feb 2 and verify they live in their homes at least eight months a year—local officials are testing how reduced tax revenue may affect essential community services.  Cowboy State Daily
  • The City of Cheyenne announced the Aquatics Center will be closed starting Monday, Oct-6 for a boiler replacement and routine maintenance. The recreation pool reopens on Thursday, Oct-9 while the main pool will open about two weeks later.  Cap City News

SPORTS NEWS

  • Jayden Williams, a 302-pound defensive tackle, had only eight tackles in 120 snaps in his season opener and now faces high expectations from his coaches who want him to study game tape and work harder. The sophomore is taking the coaching feedback seriously and will work to be more consistent in future games.  KGAB
