- ➤ The Paul Smith Children's Village at Cheyenne Botanic Gardens will be closed from Tuesday, Oct. 14 through Thursday, Oct. 16 for maintenance—replacing entryway pavers, the waterfall bridge, and removing trees. It will reopen Friday, Oct. 17 at 10 a.m. City of Cheyenne
CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ Photographers of all ages may submit up to 10 photos taken in Wyoming for the Wyoming Wildlife Photo Contest if they enter before midnight November 17. Winning photos will be featured in the February issue of the magazine and the grand prize winner will earn $600 from The Wyldlife Fund—entries compete in wildlife, scenic, recreation and flora categories. - ➤ Today, the Wyoming Department of Transportation announced that Highway 211, also known as Horse Creek Road, will close from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Oct. 13 for railroad crossing repairs near the intersection with Gilchrist Road at mile marker 17.1—BNSF crews and RoadSafe Traffic Systems will remove and replace planks while motorists are advised to detour north of I-25 through Chugwater. - ➤ Due to Columbus Day on Oct. 13, Cheyenne shifted trash, recycling and yard waste pick-ups one day later for the week of Oct. 13-17. The Solid Waste Transfer Station and Happy Jack Landfill will be closed on Oct. 13 while Household Hazardous Waste and the Compost Facility remain closed on Oct. 13-14 and reopen on Oct. 15, and the Sanitation Division office will be available by phone or appointment on Oct. 13. - ➤ Laramie County Board of Commissioners approved a zoning change Tuesday for a 1,375-acre Switchgrass Industrial Park that lets Tallgrass Integrated Logistics Solutions LLC plan a multibillion-dollar data center and a 1.8-gigawatt power plant near Chalk Bluff Road and U.S. Highway 85. Construction will run from Q4 (2025) to Q4 (2028) and officials will address concerns such as water use and traffic in the upcoming site plan phase. Cap City News
- ➤ On Tuesday, the Wyoming Supreme Court denied the state's request to revive the school-choice scholarship program, upholding a lower court's block from July—nearly 4,000 families were already approved when the program was set to begin. The state's appeal remains pending as legal challenges over the act's constitutionality continue. Cowboy State Daily
- ➤ Cheyenne City Council members began revising how zoning is assigned for annexed county lands—shifting from a one-to-one match to a case-by-case review to address each property's specific needs. Wyoming Tribune Eagle
- ➤ Cheyenne officials at Laramie County approved a replat and zone change for York Subdivision during two public hearings and granted a permit for new residential tracts in the Polk Addition near East Pershing Boulevard. They will hold a public hearing on Dec. 2 on a proposed change to the International Residential Code—raising the permit exemption from 200 to 400 square feet based on public feedback. Cap City News

- ➤ The University of Wyoming and Wyoming Mining Association announced on Tuesday they will partner for the upcoming Border War contest against Colorado State—turning the game into a Cowboys and Coal event with a pregame display at the Coal Country Village. The contest kicks off at 5:30 p.m. on October 25 as uniformed miners lead the team and fans get a chance to see mining memorabilia and meet a miner. 106.3 Cowboy Country
