CRIME NEWS

  • Cheyenne Animal Shelter rescued over 75 animals (including dogs, cats, rabbits, chickens, small birds, and a goat) from a neglected property where some were found near dead animals last Friday with treatment costs estimated at $150,000 as the investigation continues.  KING FM

ECONOMY NEWS

  • Gas prices in Wyoming averaged $3.00 per gallon today — with the cheapest at $2.55 and the priciest at $3.99 — according to GasBuddy's survey of 494 stations. Prices increased slightly over the past week while remaining lower than last month’s levels, and national averages are falling as well.  KING FM
  • Laramie County’s average gas price rose 8 cents to $2.82 per gallon today — national prices dropped 6.4 cents to about $3.02 per gallon.  Cap City News

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Nyah Herrera, a senior at East High School, was named Laramie County School District 1’s Student of the Week for the week of Oct. 13, recognized for her strong academics and involvement in Fine and Performing Arts. She will attend Emerson College after graduation—major in writing and minor in performance—while her teachers praise her creativity and work ethic.  Cap City News

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Wyoming law passed in 2024 now fines drivers who ignore wind-related road closures, with a first offense carrying a $1,000 fine and up to 30 days in jail—repeat offenses result in a $2,500 fine and apply to all high-profile vehicles.  KGAB

SPORTS NEWS

  • Wyoming will debut new black-and-white coal-inspired uniforms on Oct. 25 when the team hosts Colorado State in the final Border War meeting as Mountain West members — the game will be played at 5:30 p.m. on CBS Sports Network and will honor local coal miners with a premium fan giveaway.  KGAB
  • At War Memorial Stadium last Saturday, Wyoming defensive back Desman Hearns slowed San Jose State receiver Danny Scudero — who had 151 yards and four touchdowns in the first half — but the Cowboys rallied with 21 unanswered points in the fourth quarter to win 35—28.  KGAB
