COMMUNITY NEWS

  • The Cheyenne Family YMCA closed last month because low membership and rising costs made it hard to keep open — ending a long history of community programs. The loss has sparked local talk about building a public rec center to support youth and health, with a vote on the idea possibly coming in 2026 — a plan that many say could help replace lost services.  KGAB

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Wyoming Energy Authority recommended a $100 million grant for BWXT’s TRISO nuclear fuel plant in Gillette & nearly $10 million for energy projects including carbon capture and a potential new coal unit. Public comments remain open until Nov. 25 for the nuclear proposal & until Oct. 18 for the other projects as Gov. Mark Gordon will decide on the awards.  Cap City News
  • Radiant Nuclear left Wyoming for Tennessee because state laws on nuclear waste storage and public worries made the company change its plans + local opinion remains divided on the issue. Lawmakers must decide on new rules + plans in Campbell County for a nuclear fuel plant that could bring hundreds of jobs by late 2030.  KGAB

LIFESTYLE NEWS

  • As winter approaches with colder temperatures, Cheyenne drivers are advised today to check their vehicle's fluids, lights, battery, and tires to avoid problems on icy roads. Local motorists should replace worn parts and prepare an emergency kit with blankets, gloves, and ice scrapers to stay safe throughout the season.  KING FM
