- ➤ Della Ortega, a seventh-grade student at Johnson Junior High, was named Laramie County School District 1 Student of the Week for Oct. 20 — recognized for her kindness, responsibility and strong leadership on the student council. - ➤ The federal shutdown forced state officials to pause a program that helps thousands of low-income Wyoming residents stay warm—raising concerns that SNAP benefits may also be at risk. Wyoming Tribune Eagle
SPORTS NEWS
- ➤ The University of Wyoming men’s golf team finished Day 1 at the Oregon State Invite by posting a course-best 3-under round that vaulted them into a tie for fourth at +12 — Brody Leid shot a 66 with six birdies and an eagle while coach Joe Jensen said the team adjusted well to the slick greens and new conditions. The Cowboys will compete in the third round starting at 9:30 a.m. tomorrow. KGAB
- ➤ Today, the Wyoming Cowboys will play the Air Force Falcons in Colorado Springs—starting at 1:30 p.m. MST at Falcon Stadium—and it is their first road conference game this season; the contest will air on CBS Sports Network and be broadcast on the Cowboy Sports Network. KGAB
- ➤ The Wyoming Cowgirls have a 20 game conference schedule for the upcoming season, with exhibition games on October 24 and 31 and a regular season opener on November 4, followed by key matchups including a home contest against San Jose State on December 17 and an away game at Boise State on January 14.
