  • Cheyenne residents have a busy weekend ahead as the Cheyenne Fall Home Show begins today at Archer Parkway and Day of the Dead celebrations offer storytime and community photo boards at the Botanic Gardens, while Saturday brings downtown trick or treating with over 60 local businesses handing out candy. Additional events include a Halloween pub crawl, Rock Paper Scissors Tournament, and local music shows—ensuring there is something for all ages.  Cap City News

  • At Cyber Cheyenne on Oct. 3, women-led teams earned top honors at the Wyoming Cybersecurity Competition for Small Businesses held at Laramie County Community College. ECONOMY NEWS

  • A new state report showed Wyoming’s GDP grew 5.3% in Q2 and 2,600 jobs were added in August — though job growth lagged due to a heavy reliance on energy and minerals. Coal production increased by 8.6%, oil output edged up 0.7%, and natural gas withdrawals declined by 2.9%, leaving the state exposed to fossil fuel market swings.  KING FM

  • Cheyenne's Recreation Division announced a new Tiny Tunes Music Class— a Kindermusik-inspired program for children up to age 7 and their caregivers that offers early music exposure.  Wyoming Tribune Eagle
  • Stan Christensen, an 86-year-old former teacher who began his career at Henderson Elementary in 1962, has left a lasting impact on his Cheyenne students—his work in education continues to be celebrated.  Wyoming Tribune Eagle

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Cheyenne’s Urban Forestry Division is planting over 120 new trees in Lakeview Cemetery (88 trees), Holliday Park (28 trees) and a pocket park on 1st Street (11 trees) to replace aging trees using a $74,000 federal grant through the Inflation Reduction Act. Crews from TigerTree Landscaping will carry out the planting to renew and protect the city’s urban canopy for future generations.  Cap City News

  • The Cheyenne Board of Public Utilities announced that work on the North City Improvements Project Phase II will begin November 3 & involve closing Story Boulevard while a public meeting is scheduled to share project details.  Wyoming Tribune Eagle
  • Governor Mark Gordon said last Thursday that talks about a possible increase in beef imports from Argentina have caused concern among Wyoming cattle ranchers—he affirmed his support for local beef producers.   • Cheyenne Frontier Days received the 2025 Remuda Award from the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association — the honor celebrates the top quality of its bucking horses. CEO Tom Hirsig praised stock contractor Stacie Smith for his hard work in raising rodeo standards.  KGAB
  • The 2025 Wyoming High School Cross Country State Championships will take place on Saturday at Little America Golf Course in Cheyenne where top athletes from several schools will compete in races starting at 10:30 a.m.—fans should note limited east side parking will direct vehicles to a remote lot.  106.3 Cowboy Country
  • Senior tight end John Michael Gyllenborg has played limited minutes due to a hamstring injury that made him miss several games, and his status for the upcoming Border War against Colorado State is still unknown.
