EDUCATION NEWS

  • The UW will host the 29th Range Beef Cow Symposium on Nov. 10-11 in Cheyenne to educate cattle producers from Wyoming and across the Intermountain West—organizers say the event will offer essential management information.  Wyoming Tribune Eagle
  • Wyoming will host the 29th Range Beef Cow Symposium on November 10 and 11 in Cheyenne, where hundreds of cattle producers will meet to learn about rebuilding cow herds and managing rising costs. The University of Wyoming Extension and partners from Colorado State, South Dakota State, and Nebraska will lead sessions on sustainable grazing, genomic testing, and market outlooks—providing practical research-based information for ranchers.  Cap City News
  • Zeman Collins, a senior at Central High, was named Laramie County School District 1’s Student of the Week for the week of Oct 27* for his strong leadership, good grades and work in clubs. He is vice president of two honor societies, has earned national spots in DECA twice and plays hockey with local teams.  Cap City News
  • On October 20, the Cheyenne Schools Foundation announced that LCSD1 teachers received $22,387 in 12 Excellence in Education and Student Enrichment grants to support varied classroom projects — from science explorations to reading libraries. The awards were funded by corporate and community donors such as the Carlton family and Blue Cross Blue Shield — enhancing teacher initiatives across the district.  Cap City News

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • A plan for a new wedding venue on Happy Jack Road faced delays after Laramie County commissioners postponed a liquor license vote on Tuesday due to legal and safety concerns raised by neighbors—officials highlighted that the only road access is narrow and not built for heavy commercial traffic. Owner Tanya Riedel said her company will shuttle guests on state land access while awaiting state approval for a lease change—a revised decision is now set for Nov. 4.  Cap City News

  • The Wyoming Cowboys will host the Colorado State Rams in the 117th Border War today at 5:30 p.m. at War Memorial Stadium in Laramie—Cowboys will wear special Cowboys — Coal jerseys honoring the state's coal mining heritage and fans are encouraged to wear black.  KING FM
  • Wyoming head coach Jay Sawvel replaced offensive coordinator Jay Johnson with wide receivers coach Jovon Bouknight after the team scored only 21 points at Air Force — the change came after a season of early scoring struggles. Today at War Memorial Stadium the Cowboys will try to build an early lead and protect the football against Colorado State in the Border War.  KGAB
