COMMUNITY NEWS

  • First Lady Jennie Gordon’s Wyoming Hunger Initiative held a summit in Cheyenne last Thursday—bringing together anti-hunger advocates and local volunteers to share ideas and honor their work against food insecurity. The event, hosted with the Hughes Charitable Foundation, set clear action steps to support communities facing need statewide.  Cap City News

CULTURE NEWS

  • Cheyenne Botanic Gardens is celebrating Día de los Muertos with hundreds of flowers and cultural programs open Tuesday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. through Nov. 1 — community activities include community ofrendas available through Oct. 31 and a La Calaveras Stick Workshop for visitors 15 and up today from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.  City of Cheyenne
  • Cheyenne Frontier Days Old West Museum will unveil a life-size bronze statue of Miss Frontier on Sunday, Nov. 9 from noon to 1:15 p.m. at 4610 Carey Ave—current and former Miss Frontiers along with officials like Gov. Mark Gordon, Sen. John Barrasso, Sen. Cynthia Lummis and Rep. Harriet Hageman will attend the ceremony.  Cap City News

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Governor Gordon ordered that the U.S. and Wyoming flags be flown at half-staff to honor former Secretary of State Kathy Karpan. Karpan died on Oct. 24 and her interment is set for Nov. 3 — the flags will remain at half-staff until sundown.  Cap City News
  • Traffic delays will affect Cheyenne today on Dell Range Boulevard—epoxy lane striping begins, reducing lanes to one in each direction during daytime hours. Additional work, including installing a thermoplastic crosswalk and nighttime grinding operations, is planned to start Nov. 3, and delays are expected to be minor.  KGAB

HEALTH NEWS

  • Enroll Wyoming is offering free, confidential help to residents with marketplace health insurance open enrollment starting November 1 to January 15—local counselors are available through a statewide network at primary care offices, hospitals, and other organizations. Residents can also call 2-1-1 for additional enrollment support.  Wyoming Tribune Eagle

  • Wyoming Cowboys will face San Diego State Aztecs for the 40th time Saturday night at SnapDragon Stadium with kickoff at 5:00 p.m. on CBS Sports Network. The Aztecs have a top defense that held three teams scoreless this fall — while Wyoming limited opponents to low scores in recent games.  106.3 Cowboy Country
  • Wyoming senior Isaac Sell made an impact play in a 28-0 win over Colorado State four days ago by batting a punt away into teammate Max White’s arms — a crucial moment after switching positions several times — which boosted his team’s drive and showcased his determination after being sidelined for three seasons at the University of Wyoming.  KGAB
  • Wyoming transfer running back Damashja Harris rushed for 30 yards on five carries in the Cowboys' 28-0 win over Colorado State last Saturday—he said his mindset shifted after limited play due to injury and he now aims for a larger role on the team.  KGAB
  • Ron Moorhouse weighed in young jockeys on the final day of the 2025 season at Sweetwater Downs outside Rock Springs as Wyoming’s horse racing grew from zero races to over 50 race days, drawing local fans and visitors. Track owner Eugene Joyce said the sport’s growth—boosted by historic betting machines and equipment from closed tracks—supported local ranching and gaming industries while plans for a new track east of Cheyenne are underway.  Cap City News
  • On Saturday night at halftime during the Border War game with Colorado State, the University of Wyoming's Western Thunder Marching Band honored Wyoming native country star Ian Munsick, who noted he did not attend UW yet remains a celebrated part of the state’s pride.
