COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Energy Share of Wyoming is accepting applications for emergency energy assistance to help families pay energy or propane bills with one-time payments of up to $500 to eligible households. The program, which raised over $107,000 last season and works with local partners—such as the Salvation Army and community resource centers—gives priority to those earning at or above 225 percent of the Federal Poverty Level with special consideration for seniors and people with disabilities.  KGAB

ECONOMY NEWS

  • Gas prices in Wyoming dropped to an average of 2.71 per gallon, with some stations selling fuel for less than 2 dollars—GasBuddy shows prices fell 4.7 cents this week and 18.1 cents from a month ago. Prices may drop further as refinery work ends and oil output rises to help holiday travelers.  KING FM

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Today at 6 p.m., the Laramie County School District 1 Board meets at Storey Gym Boardroom in Cheyenne and via Zoom to elect new officers, vote on up to $1.9 million in technology purchases from Dell Marketing, and review other measures like setting a primary depository for the district.   • East High School senior Isaac Clay was named LCSD1 Student of the Week for the week of Dec. 1 due to his work in class, sports, and community service.   • The Wyoming Low Income Energy Assistance Program resumed processing eligible applications after receiving $9.6M in federal funding—ending a pause that began on Oct. 15 due to the government shutdown. The program helps low-income households pay winter heating bills and will accept applications until April 30 for the 2025/2026 heating season.  Cap City News
  • Tickets are now on sale for the 2026 Governor’s Prayer Breakfast—an event that has sold out for the past five years—in Cheyenne. Gov. Mark Gordon and his wife will invite the public to attend the nonpartisan gathering on Feb. 26 at 6:30 a.m. at Little America Hotel and Resort—individual tickets will cost $75 and be available on a first-come basis.  Cap City News

LIFESTYLE NEWS

  • A new analysis by online casino BetUS found that Wyoming residents led the nation in tattoo regrets this past year with 635 searches for tattoo removal and 550 for cover-ups per 100,000 people—suggesting many now think twice before getting inked. BetUS is accepting tattoo regret stories for a chance to win up to $800 for removal, with applications open until December 31 and a winner to be announced on January 16.  KING FM

SPORTS NEWS

  • Chris Durr Jr., a Wyoming Cowboy receiver, entered the NCAA Transfer Portal after a season with 45 catches for 469 yards and four touchdowns, marking the first instance of a Cowboy turning free agent. He has two seasons of eligibility remaining and missed the team's season finale in Hawaii because of a concussion—details that underline the significance of his decision.  KGAB
