CULTURE NEWS

  • Many Native American tribes called Wyoming home; the Eastern Shoshone and Northern Arapaho live on the Wind River Indian Reservation while historic groups (Cheyenne, Crow, and Blackfeet) also passed through the area seasonally.  KGAB
  • Cheyenne Frontier Days officials announced the night show lineup for the 130th event, featuring Alex Warren, Zach Top, and Treaty Oak Revival—details confirm the festival will take place in less than 230 days.  Wyoming Tribune Eagle

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Ricky Winters, a music student at Laramie County Community College, has been selected to join the JEN Intercollegiate Community College Honors Jazz Ensemble—a renowned group that recognizes top talent in jazz.   • Laramie County School District 1 held its annual meeting on Monday at Storey Gymnasium and elected officers for the upcoming year — a tie was broken by Chair Alicia Smith to retain current Vice Chair Christy Klaassen. All other positions were approved unanimously and the board set its next meeting for Dec. 15.  Cap City News

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Cheyenne faces strong winds up to 30 mph today as an arctic front moves south, turning rain into snow with most areas getting a dusting up to 1 inch + regions along Interstate 80 expecting up to 2 inches. After the front passes this evening, temperatures will drop sharply so that Wednesday’s high struggles to reach 25 and night lows near 10 + wind chills at or below zero bring bitter cold.  Cap City News
  • State scientists and officials are battling the spread of cheatgrass as it takes over Wyoming's lands. The Johnson County team is spraying 120,000 acres with a new herbicide — experts say much more funding is needed to protect native sagebrush and wildlife.  Cap City News

  • Wyoming head coach Jay Sawvel is reworking the Cowboys' offense after a 4-8 season as top players like receiver Chris Durr Jr. and running back Terron Kellman enter the transfer portal. Desman Hearns and freshman Tyson Deen confirmed their returns—early signing day will add 19 to 21 new players tomorrow as the program rebuilds.  KGAB
