ECONOMY NEWS

  • A Wyoming Insight report shows that in November natural gas prices climbed to $3.78 per MMBtu while oil fell to $60.06 per barrel amid fewer rigs (nine active compared to 12 last year). Declining tax collections signal softer consumer spending across the state.  KING FM

EDUCATION NEWS

  • University of Wyoming requested $54 million extra funding this week for projects including AI research, paid internships, trades teacher training, and new labs for minerals analysis (aiming to boost state industries and retain graduates). Lawmakers raised questions over costs and priorities as proposals unfold for the next two-year budget cycle.  Cowboy State Daily
  • On Dec. 9, students, teachers, families and veterans gathered at Kelly West High School to honor fallen alumni with wreaths and plaque dedications — the ceremony featured the JROTC and choir performing the National Anthem, while Governor Gordon welcomed Gold Star families with heartfelt remarks.  KING FM

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Cheyenne's Board of Public Utilities said that construction on the North City Improvements Project (Phase II) will continue with Storey Blvd closed through Dec. 17. High winds delayed asphalt placement, and concrete work is scheduled for Monday and Tuesday.  Cap City News
  • Residents and property owners can attend an open house on the Stormwater Management Program held Tuesday, Dec. 16 from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Laramie County Library Cottonwood Room (2200 Pioneer Ave) where city staff will answer questions and explain planned improvements and fees effective in 2026.  Cap City News

SPORTS NEWS

  • Abou Magassa, a sophomore forward, played only 22 seconds on Tuesday night in the Cowboys' 106-79 win over South Dakota, and head coach Sundance Wicks urged him to improve his defense and rebounding for upcoming games.  106.3 Cowboy Country
  • High school sports season began Thursday with basketball and wrestling contests and continues today and tomorrow in Laramie County. Sports reporter Kaycee Clark-Mellott discussed the action on the SportsZone.  KFBC
  • Tom Mosser, host of the Top of the Mountain West podcast, appeared on SportsZone on Thursday to discuss the Wyoming Cowboy basketball team, which holds an 8 (2 losses) record and is emerging as a nonconference surprise in the Mountain West. Discussion about their performance continues as the season unfolds.  KFBC
  • Last Tuesday, Wyoming recorded 21 assists on 40 made shots in a 106 to 79 win, ranking 77th nationally for ball sharing as head coach Wicks praised the team's selfless play and Naz Meyer led with 26 points. The Cowboys will face South Dakota State at the Sanford Pentagon Monday night at 6 p.m.  106.3 Cowboy Country
