ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • Today, high winds with gusts up to 70 mph forced the Wyoming Department of Transportation to partially close I-25 and I-80 for light and high-profile vehicles, and a crash near milepost 359 on I-80 east of Cheyenne blocked a lane, causing travel delays (road conditions remain hazardous).  Cap City News

ECONOMY NEWS

  • November’s report noted Henry Hub natural gas averaged $3.78 per MMBtu while West Texas Intermediate crude fell to $60.06 a barrel—a 14% decline that accompanied a drop in active oil rigs from 12 to 9.  KGAB

EDUCATION NEWS

  • The Laramie County School District 1 Board of Trustees approved a clean audit report for fiscal year 2024/25 Monday at its Cheyenne meeting. Chief Financial Officer Jed Cicarelli and partner Stephanie Pickering reported no significant internal control weaknesses (the audit was delayed by a federal shutdown).  Cap City News
  • The LCSD1 Board honored high-achieving students, dedicated staff and top music educators during its meeting on Monday, Dec. 15 at the district office and recognized Arp Elementary as a Model Professional Learning Community School (one of just 28 statewide).  Cap City News

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Cheyenne Juvenile Court Judge Ronn Jeffrey retired after more than 50 years on the bench (announced Tuesday afternoon) and will head a new task force to update juvenile justice ordinances. Mayor Collins praised his lasting impact serving thousands of youth over his long career.  KGAB
  • The City of Cheyenne reminds residents to secure trash and sanitation containers on windy days to prevent scattered debris. If containers cannot be secured, residents are urged to delay placement until pickup and to bag all trash+ purchase latches from the Sanitation Division.  City of Cheyenne

SPORTS NEWS

  • The Cowboys secured their first road win since last January with an 87 to 72 victory over South Dakota State. Coach Sundance Wicks highlighted rookie Naz Meyer's 25 points + stressed the team is focused ahead of Saturday's league game at the Arena Auditorium.  106.3 Cowboy Country
  • In NFL Week 15, former Wyoming Cowboy Josh Allen led the Bills to a 35 to 31 comeback win over the Patriots with three touchdowns on Sunday. Allen (No. 17) will return to Laramie for his jersey retirement to honor his local roots.  KGAB
  • Wyoming head coach Jay Sawvel secured a verbal commitment on Tuesday from three-star wide receiver Alijah Landrum-Hamilton — the Denver-area prospect and second state title winner from Cherry Creek High who declined offers from Ole Miss, Miami and CSU. He tallied 35 catches and eight touchdowns last fall.  KGAB
