COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Habitat for Humanity of Laramie County is coordinating a Community Volunteer Fair on Jan. 10 at the Laramie County Senior Center in Cheyenne to bring together local nonprofits + community members.  Wyoming Tribune Eagle

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • On Wednesday night, a grass fire burned 565 acres near Winchester Hills in south Cheyenne after being reported at 4:25 p.m., destroying only a greenhouse and prompting evacuations to South High School + residents returned by 8:30 p.m. while firefighters tackled remaining hotspots.  Cap City News

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Wyoming residents can enjoy the Ursid meteor shower when it peaks late Sunday night into early Monday and remains visible until Dec. 26 (with about 5-10 meteors per hour visible in dark skies away from city lights).  KING FM

LIFESTYLE NEWS

  • Amid rising car thefts, Wyoming drivers find that manual transmissions discourage theft by offering a tougher challenge to car thieves, with fewer than 100,000 new manual cars sold nationwide in 2024. REAL ESTATE NEWS

  • Wyoming's home values increased by 5.17% in the past year to an average of $366,565 & added about $18,000 in equity, a strong growth that may challenge affordability for first-time buyers.  KING FM

SPORTS NEWS

  • Cowboy Football will travel to UTEP (El Paso) and Northern Illinois (DeKalb) along with trips to UNLV and San Jose State in its new Mountain West schedule for 2026, with the season starting on Sept. 5 in Fort Collins for the 118th Border War game.  KGAB
  • Wyoming defensive tackle Lucas Samsula plans to enter the NCAA Transfer Portal and has three years of eligibility remaining (he missed the 2024 season due to an Achilles tear) after recording 15 tackles and 1.5 sacks last fall, making him the fifth Cowboy to depart this offseason.  KING FM
  • After finishing 3-1 last weekend at the Tuff Samuelson Tournament in Evanston, the East girls basketball team played in Sidney on Thursday. They will compete in Scottsbluff later today and on Saturday while Coach Eric Westling discussed the season on the SportsZone.  KFBC
  • Cowboy Football is set to travel to UTEP and Northern Illinois this fall as new Mountain West members, with the 2026 season starting on Sept. 5 in Fort Collins and additional road games planned at UNLV and San Jose State (dates for some games are yet to be announced).  106.3 Cowboy Country
