COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Rooted in Cheyenne will host its 18th neighborhood tree planting event this Saturday—community members can help add new trees to local streets for a greener area.  Wyoming Tribune Eagle

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Cheyenne fourth-graders learned about agriculture at an Ag Expo as Laramie County Cattlewomen taught them how farming turns into food. The event gave students hands-on examples of local farming — deepening their understanding of Wyoming life.  Wyoming Tribune Eagle

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Wildlife ecologist Chris Kirol surveyed the remaining large tracts of sagebrush in the Powder River Basin—reporting that while Wyoming sage grouse near their cyclic high, their northeastern population has tumbled.  Wyoming Tribune Eagle

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • At a four-hour hearing Tuesday, residents raised concerns about wildlife, safety, and land impacts as the Laramie County Commission voted 3-1 to deny the 56,000-acre wind project proposed by Repsol, citing risks that outweigh the benefits.  Cowboy State Daily
  • A public hearing will be held on September 22 at 6:00 p.m. at the Municipal Building—City Council Chambers, 2101 O'Neil Ave, and via electronic meeting to consider a proposed transfer of ownership for the retail liquor license application for Apple Colorado, LLC d/b/a Applebee's Neighborhood Grill & Bar at 1401 Dell Range Blvd.  City of Cheyenne

HEALTH NEWS

  • Injury Prevention Resources released a Virtual Roadway Safety Session video that urges Cheyenne drivers to buckle up on every ride. The video explains that a seatbelt makes you 10 times more likely to survive a crash — it also promotes a contest to win prizes via its website.  Cap City News

SPORTS NEWS

  • Bar Nunn will host the final Wind City No Prep drag race this Saturday, September 20 with racers inspected at 7:00 a.m. and a drivers meeting between 9:30 and 10:00 a.m.—road closures on Westwinds Road and Tonkawa Trail will start Friday night at 7:00 p.m. and continue until the event ends later Saturday afternoon.  KGAB
  • Bar Nunn will host the final Wind City No Prep drag race on Saturday, September 20th, 2025—racers will vie for cash prizes and bragging rights. Road closures will start Friday night at 7:00 p.m., and spectators can enter at 8:00 a.m. with racers inspected at 7:00 a.m. followed by a driver meeting between 9:30 and 10:00 a.m.  KING FM

    Come join Community Action of Laramie County, Inc, and your favorite local and regional vendors, farmers and artisans for 10 weeks of fresh fruit, vegetables, unique home bakers, kettle corn, kimchi, honey and more, each Saturday from 7am to 1pm near the Chris LeDoux statue at Frontier Park August 9 to October 11.
